The classic three-statement break: someone edits the P&L, forgets to push the change through to cash flow, and the balance sheet quietly stops balancing. Nobody notices until the reviewer does, usually the night before the board pack ships.

The statements aren’t three models: they’re one

A three-statement model is really a single set of relationships wearing three different views. Revenue drives receivables. Capex drives depreciation and the fixed-asset roll-forward. Financing drives the debt schedule, which drives interest expense, which drives net income, which drives retained earnings, which drives the balance sheet. Break any one link by hand and the rest silently disagrees with it.

Enforce the identity, don’t just hope for it
