Start the Business Plan From Your Own Template, Not a Blank Deck

Turning a model into a business plan usually means opening a blank presentation and rebuilding what already exists somewhere else: copying figures out of the model, retyping them into slides, formatting tables by hand, and hoping nothing drifts between the two versions by the time the deck goes out. Rexfin’s board pack template feature skips that rebuild by filling your own company’s template directly, instead of generating a new deck from nothing.

Your template, not a generic one

You upload your own corporate .pptx (the deck your firm already presents from, with its own branding, layout, and slide order). Rexfin treats that file as a native slide library and looks for tagged slots inside it: places the template’s author has explicitly marked for content, covering six text slots (company name, subtitle, period, stamp, gate, and commentary) and six table slots (KPIs, the three statements, variance, and provenance). Nothing about the deck’s design changes: the fill only touches the slots that were tagged.

A mapping you confirm before anything is written

Before any figure lands on a slide, Rexfin shows a preview of how the tagged slots map to your model’s data, and you confirm it. That confirmation is bound to the exact file and slot map you approved: an inventory hash ties the two together, so what gets filled is exactly what was reviewed, not a best guess made after the fact. If a tag is unknown, buried somewhere the fill can’t safely reach, or placed ambiguously, the fill doesn’t improvise a placement for it: it names the problem and refuses, with the full list of what’s wrong, so you fix the template rather than get a silently wrong deck.

The same content as the house deck, deterministically

There’s no language model involved in deciding what goes where. The slots are author-named tags, and the content that fills them is the same gated data used for Rexfin’s own generated deck: the same figures, the same provenance, the same stamp-and-gate treatment for anything not yet evaluated. A figure mapped into a table slot carries its sourcing with it; a template can’t quietly drop the trail and present a bare number. And because the trust rule holds either way, a plan built from a forecast baseline or from a specific scenario fills in with the same caveats and the same honesty about what’s actual versus modeled.

The output stays a normal, natively editable .pptx: your file, with your branding, now carrying your numbers. You can open it, adjust it, present from it, or hand it off, without anyone downstream needing to know it was filled rather than typed.

Why start from a template at all

The same argument that applies to starting a model from a structured template applies here on the output side: a blank sheet doesn’t know what shape a business plan needs to take, and someone ends up guessing at structure before a single real number is in it. A template already carries that shape (the sections a board expects, the order a plan reads in, the branding a firm already uses), so the work that’s left is filling it correctly, not inventing it from scratch.
