Start From a GCC-Shaped Model, Not a Blank Grid

Rexfin ships IFRS-18 statement templates and a UAE Corporate-Tax scaffold so a new model starts in the right shape, ready for real filings to seed into it.

By The Rexfin team

Starting a new model from a blank grid is the slowest part of onboarding, and it usually gets worse before it gets better: someone types in line labels from memory, guesses at categories, and ends up with a structure that doesn’t match the shape a real filing will eventually need to seed into. Rexfin’s template library exists to skip that step without skipping the substance.

A template is a shape, not a number

Pick the GCC IFRS-18 template and Rexfin creates a full income-statement, balance-sheet, and cash-flow skeleton in one step: the right line items, in the right IFRS-18 categories, with correct signs, units, and subtotal roles, plus an empty period grid ready to fill in. Every cell that comes out of this process is modelled and unsourced: no value, no atom link, nothing pretending to be a filed figure. That’s a deliberate constraint, not an oversight: a template’s only job is to get the structure right before any real number touches it.

The reason this is worth doing carefully rather than just shipping a generic starter sheet is what happens next. Every template line is keyed on the same canonical identifiers the seam uses when it pulls actuals out of a real filing. So when you later feed in an annual report, the seeded numbers land directly into the lines the template already created: they don’t create a parallel, duplicate set of lines you then have to reconcile by hand. A model that started as a template and a model that started blank end up structurally identical once real data lands; the template just gets you there without the typing.

A UAE-CT block that’s honest about what it is

Alongside the 3-statement skeleton, the GCC template includes a starting tax block shaped around UAE Corporate Tax: a 9% standard-rate line, a 0% free-zone (QFZP) path you switch to explicitly rather than have guessed for you, and an effective-tax-rate driver you can tune. It’s a realistic starting assumption, not a tax computation engine: there’s no filing logic behind it, and it never claims to be a substitute for actual FTA compliance work.

The important part is what happens once a real filing is seeded: the actual tax line from the filing supersedes the scaffolded assumption on that period, and the difference between what you assumed and what was actually reported is simply visible, not hidden or overwritten silently. A Saudi entity’s zakat treatment is handled separately rather than forced through the same rate-times-profit logic UAE-CT uses, because zakat isn’t computed that way and treating it as if it were would produce a structurally wrong starting model.

Picking a template

The library itself is small and browsable: a gallery lists what’s on offer, a read-only preview shows you the line inventory in full IFRS-18 shape (categories, subtotals, labels) before you commit to anything, and “start blank” stays available if a template isn’t what you need. Once you instantiate, you land directly in the scaffolded model, ready to edit, extend, or seed a real filing into it.

Who this is for

This is aimed at anyone spinning up a new deal or engagement who doesn’t want to spend the first hour typing IFRS category headers from scratch: advisors standing up a client model before the first filing arrives, teams onboarding a new entity into an existing workspace, or anyone who wants their three-statement structure to be correct on day one instead of retrofitted later. If your region is GCC and IFRS-18, the template gets that specificity right from the first screen rather than treating it as a customization project.

Templates plug into the same verified statement presentation and versioning as any other model in Rexfin: nothing about starting from a template changes how the model is checked once real numbers are in it. See how it all fits together on the Rexfin product tour.
